GOT ENP? Why Not?
The Utah Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (UT-NENA) is proud to host state-wide study groups to prepare eligible candidates for certification as an Emergency Number Professional (ENP).
Why apply for certification as an ENP? Certification is a tool of a professional association to establish the benchmarks of performance that will signify a broad-based competence in the professional field. By successfully completing the ENP certification program, you will be formally recognized as demonstrating mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required for 9-1-1 professionals.
ENP exams are scheduled four times annually for a two-week period each winter, spring, summer, and fall. To be eligible to apply to sit for the exam, all applicants must have three years experience in Emergency Communications or three years experience with a commercial provider of Emergency Communications products and services. In addition to the three years of experience, all applicants must also meet the point requirements to sit for the examination. The point requirements are fully explained on the NENA web sitehttp://www.nena.org/emp.
Past applicants have used study groups to great benefit in preparation for the examination. UT-NENA will provide teleconferencing, email groups, and meeting sites to help potential applicants prepare for the test. The exact configuration of the study groups will be determined by the number of interested applicants. We will also assist potential applicants in locating test locations, submitted the required forms, and provide suggestions to minimize costs for reference material.
We anticipate the study group process will take about three months; in plenty of time to submit applications for the January 2012 exam.
There are costs associated with the examination and a cost savings for NENA members. For further information regarding the NENA ENP program may be found at http://www.nena.org/emp.
