Utah NENA would like to thank all the wonderful people, agencies and vendors who donated to this quarters charity event!!! We believe it was a great success. Helping others through charity work is a goal and priority of Utah NENA.
Utah NENA members raised $2872.13 for Utah Food Bank’s BackPack Program or more than 718 meals for kids. In our agency/vendor competition Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) won the pizza party by raising $828.29. Utah NENA hopes to make this an annual tradition to feed Utah children.
Utah Food Bank BackPack Program
There are 600 children in Utah who rely on The BackPack Program, a nationally recognized program of Feeding America, is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
Through this program, Utah Food Bank provides packages of nutritious, nonperishable foods to many Utah schools. A designated school employee will load packs of food into children’s backpacks at the end of every week. Among some of the items those packs contain are milk, tuna, peanut butter, beef stew, vegetables and fruit. It costs just $4 to provide a student with food for one weekend.
